Using Catalina
How does capture work?
During your capture window (11 PM–6 AM by default, adjustable in Settings), opening Catalina drops you straight into a quiet, distraction-free screen to write down a dream. What you write is saved automatically to your private on-device journal. Outside the window, you can add a dream anytime with the compose button.
What are the AI features?
Catalina can reflect on a dream, illustrate it, or animate it. These are optional and off until you turn them on. The first time you use one, Catalina asks permission and tells you which AI provider receives your dream. You can turn AI off anytime in Settings → AI features. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What are credits?
Each AI action (analysis, illustration, animation) uses a monthly credit. Your remaining credits are shown in Settings and on each dream. Free and Pro plans include different monthly amounts, and you can buy additional illustration packs if you run out.
Subscriptions & purchases
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple Account. To view, change, or cancel, open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions — or manage subscriptions here. Canceling stops future renewals; your Pro features remain until the end of the paid period.
How do I restore a purchase?
On a new device or after reinstalling, open the paywall in Catalina and tap Restore Purchases. Your active subscription and any illustration packs will be restored to your Apple Account.
I was charged but don't see my Pro features.
Try Restore Purchases from the paywall first. If that doesn't resolve it, email support@catalinadreamjournal.com with the date of purchase and we'll help.
Privacy & data
Where are my dreams stored?
On your device, privately. Catalina has no account and no server. Dreams are only ever sent out if you choose to use an AI feature — see the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete a dream?
Swipe on a dream in your journal, or use the delete action in the dream's detail view. It's removed from your device. Deleting the app removes everything.
How do I disconnect Apple Health?
Sleep data is read only on your device and never transmitted. To revoke access, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Catalina.
